Eraneos Group publishes roadmap for sustainable public sector digitalization
Zurich, 22 February 2023 – Eraneos Group announces, “Doing Digital for Impact: Study on Digital Transformation in the Public Sector”, a practical guide for enabling governments worldwide to create public value through successful and efficient digital transformations.
- The study results feature guidelines for roles and responsibilities, both political and administrative, as well as high-level recommendations gathered from insights shared by study participants from some 35 countries.
- It identifies the need for meaningful strategies and solutions that are based on a clear business case as a recommended prerequisite for adding public value with public sector digital transformations.
- The study’s approach cites a combination of redesigning the organizational ecosystem, reshaping the legal landscape, and strategic policymaking as the effective alternative for avoiding costly, singular public sector IT projects – many of which are heretofore prone to budget overruns and delays.
- Eraneos Group is delivering its study results, “Doing Digital for Impact”, on 23 February 2023.Conducted with King’s College London, International School for Government, in an advisory capacity, Dr Olga Siemers, Senior Lecturer in Public Policy, will be on hand for the study’s unveiling during the launch webinar.
- The Hon Alexander Downer AC, Executive Chair of the International School for Government, and former Australian Foreign Minister and High Commissioner to the UK, is the featured guest speaker.
Firsthand experiences
This empirical publication by the international technology management consultancy stems from hundreds of touchpoints with government representatives and civil servants. Firsthand accounts from country CIOs, politicians, senior and middle administration management, and civic actors reveal successes as well as workarounds in the race for meeting public expectations with sustainable digitalization strategies.
For policymakers and managers in the public sector
The consultancy’s game plan for politicians and administrations focuses on a “New Thinking” approach within the context of three influencing factors:
- IT has become an integral part of politics with technologies such as cloud, big data, and AI raising difficult questions for governments regarding their economy, sovereignty, and innovativeness.
- A new type of business-minded leader drives digital transformation successfully, drawing on private sector backgrounds and cross-agency collaboration to build trust.
- Organizational complexity creates more roadblocks, while more centralized countries earn better e-gov rankings.
The survey was conducted by Eraneos Group with King’s College London, International School for Government, in an advisory capacity. Data was collected from 35 nations from across the globe, including 357 respondents and an additional 22 interviews.
